Home Screen Features

Name

Function

1.

Menu Bar

Select from the menu bar to navigate instrumental functions and access information.

2.

Run Designation Buttons

Allows user to Prepare Slides, Map Slides, Print Reports or Cancel Run.

3.

Run End Time

Displays the run end time.

4.

Reagent Rack 

The reagent rack is a stainless steel rack with 44 positions for 20mL vials that can easily slide 
in and out of the instrument. The reagent rack remains below room temperature throughout a 
run. Use the mouse cursor to hover over a reagent vial to view reagent information during a run.

5.

System Lid

Displays whether system lid is opened or closed.

6.

Reagent Rack Lock/Unlock 
Status

Displays whether the reagent rack is locked or unlocked.

7.

Reagent Rack Temperature

Displays the temperature of the reagent rack to ensure reagents are stored at an acceptable 
temperature range.

8.

Carboy Status

The carboy status indicates if there is sufficient DePar, Aqua Rinse, Antigen Retrieval (AR) 
and Wash Buffer available in the bulk reagent carboys.  The carboy status also displays the 
amount of non-hazardous waste and hazardous waste in the carboy.  

A reminder will be displayed when bulk reagent carboys are low and when waste carboys need 
to be emptied.

9.

Slide Tray Position

The VALENT Software displays the location of each slide on the slide tray numbered from 
1-12. Hovering over a mapped slide allows the user to view slide information and protocol 
during a run.

10.

Slide Tray Lock/Unlock 
Status

Displays whether a slide tray is locked or unlocked. Slide trays are locked during a run.

11.

Slide Tray Status

The VALENT Software displays the slide trays and the slide positions graphically on the user 
interface. The slide trays are designated A-D. Tray status indicates whether the tray is in 
process (red) or available (green).
