Follow the steps below to adjust the brake.
Adjust it so that the play of brake wire will be
as small as possible with the latch positioned
at the first notch from the top.
Push the locking pedal while applying mild
pressure to the brake pedal with a hand so
that the brake pedal will be locked with the
latch positioned at the first notch.

Adjust the travel of the brake pedal by
tightening the brake wire adjustment bolt.
If the brake pedal play is too large, the
braking power will be decreased and the
pedaling will be light.
If the brake pedal play is too small, the
braking power will be increased and the
pedaling will be heavy.

Install the step cover.
Start the engine.

Drive the machine to check the following.
Make sure that the brake is effective when
depressing the brake pedal all the way
firmly.
Make sure that heat is not generated in
the brake area.
Make sure that the left and right brakes
are equally effective.
Caution
It would be extremely dangerous and may
result in an unexpected accident if the left and
right brakes are not equally effective.
If the left and right brakes are not equally
effective, make fine adjustments with the
adjustment bolt on the brake wire.
Break-In of Brakes
If the brake shoes or brake pads are worn,
replace them with new ones.
Immediately after replacement, drive to break
in the brakes if the effectiveness of the brakes
is low.
While driving, lightly operate the brakes to
break in the contact areas.
