3. Physical installation of a MiPIX display system
How to install the MiPIX control unit ?
1. Install the MiPIX control unit horizontally with its four output ports nearby the first pixel blocks of the chains. The control unit is
equipped with different mounting holes at the left and right side. Depending on the design of the installation you choose the most
suitable mounting holes. (image 3-8)
Caution:
The controller must always be installed horizontally. This to prevent parts falling in or out the controller through the
air channel, which can be fatal.
Caution:
Ensure that the left and right side, fan inlet and outlet, of the control unit are not blocked. Leave enough space around
the control unit for easy connecting.
2. Connect the output ports with the 25 cm long prime-cable coming from the first pixel block of the chains. Be sure the correct
output port is connected with the corresponding chain, see "Configuration schemes of MiPIX blocks", page 15. (image 3-9)
Note:
In case the distance between the output port and the first pixel block is longer than 25 cm, use the extension kit to realize
the connection, see Using the MiPIX prime-cable extension kit, page 21.
3. Repeat step 1 and 2 until all MiPIX control units are installed.
4. Realize the data cabling between the MiPIX control units. Connect each output connector of the control unit with the input con-
nector of the next control unit, using a MDR cable. The input/output MDR connectors are located at the front of the control unit.
(image 3-10)
Note:
In case the distance between two control units is longer than 5 meter, the use of MiPIX stand alone re-sync unit is
required. See Using the MiPIX stand alone re-sync unit, page 22.
5. Realize the power cabling of the installed MiPIX control units. Use power split cables to connect maximum 10 MiPIX controller
units with the same power branch. (image 3-11)
Caution:
To protect against risk of fire by overloading of power cables, MAXIMUM 10 MiPIX controller units are allowed per
power source cable. The power source cable should be protected by a circuit breaker or fuses rated 16 A / 250 VAC.
