4.3 Equipment parts
If the BTL or connection housing is left individually or
disassembled in the plant, note the following:
– Leave connection terminal without power!
– Use cable shield to ground the BTL through the ground
terminal or connection housing.
– Use original equipment protection caps to protect from
contamination.
– Use additional securing of the protection caps
depending on the installation mounting position,
vibration, temperature etc.
– Protect any components and the protection cap left in
the plant from mechanical stress and damage.
4.4 Electrical Connection
The electrical connection is permanent and made using a
cable. For the connection assignments, see Tab. 4-1.
DANGER
Explosions
Connecting the BTL in an explosion hazard atmosphere
could result in explosions. This could result in personal
injury and equipment damage.

Connect only in non-EX zone areas or in a suitable
enclosure.
Note the information on shielding and cable
routing (see Section 4.5).

The power consumption of the BTL must be
limited externally by the user to 4 W!
Bus termination
If the BTL is the last slave in the PROFIBUS line, an active
bus terminator must be installed (see Fig. 4-1).

Bus termination
If the device is installed in the middle of the PROFIBUS
line, +5 V OUT and DGND OUT are not connected. Be
sure however to isolate with respect to ground and other
signals.
