6.4.4 Cleaning tools and tool holders
PROCEDURE – CLEANING TOOLS AND TOOL HOLDERS

Check oil
level
Dirt and/or excess oil on the contact surfaces reduces the blocking force.
Clean the tool tang (2) and the conical surface of the tool holders (1).
Apply a light layer of lubricant on the conical seat of the spindle.
Check the conditions of the tool cutting edges. Replace the tool if a
cutting edge is damaged or blunt.
Use only tools/tool holders balanced in G1. Rebalance the tool each
time it is sharpened.

Negligence when cleaning tools represents one of the major causes of on the job
accidents.
Clean and sharpen the tools.
Keep tools clean and sharp.
Balance the tools in G1 each time they are sharpened.
