4.3.5 Forwarding
For communications between LAN and WAN, the CMO 2-01 normally only allows you to originate an
IP connection with a PC on the WAN; it will ignore attempts of the WAN PC to originate a connection onto
your PC. This protects you from malicious attacks from outsiders. However, sometimes you may wish for
anyone outside to be able to originate a connection to a particular PC on your LAN if the destination port
(application) matches one port you specify. The Forwarding page allows you to specify up to 10 rules.
The Forwarding page allows you to provide local services (web server, FTP server, mail server, etc.) to people
on the Internet. A table with frequently used port numbers is shown.
Enter the necessary parameters for forwarding.
Click Apply.
The rule is added to the table at the bottom of the page.
Click Edit in the table to change a rule.
Click Remove in the table to delete a rule.
Click Remove All in the table to change all rules.
