TERRAIN CATEGORY
Settings in this category control the behavior of terrain
awareness/avoidance functions within the IFD. If the IFD is
configured with an external TAWS, the category and all of the
related settings will not be shown.
FLTA
This setting controls whether Forward Looking Terrain Avoidance
(FLTA) function is enabled. The factory default setting is “On”.
Terrain Awareness (TA)
This setting controls whether Terrain Awareness function is
enabled. If the TAWS function is enabled, this setting also
enables Premature Descent Alert (PDA). The factory default
setting is “On”.
Note that in dual IFD installations, both units will need to be set to
“Off” to disable the function.
Terrain Caution Aural
This setting controls the content of the aural message that is
generated during FLTA caution conditions, with selections as
follows:
Caution Terrain
– the aural message will say “Caution,
Terrain; Caution, Terrain”
Terrain Ahead
– the aural message will say “Terrain
Ahead; Terrain Ahead”
