Chapter A: General Diagnosis
23
The table consists of four columns labeled as follows:
• Name
• Location
• Locator View
• Connector End View
Name
The name cells provide the name of the components
that are used on the schematic(s). If a connector is list-
ed, the numbers of cavities also are provided.
Location
The location cell provides a written location of where the
component is in the vehicle with respect to the vehicle.
Most components can be located using the component
location view illustrations.
Locator View
This column contains the reference to the appropriate
locator view.
Circuit Descriptions
The circuit description describes how the system works
electrically. The circuit description also explains the
communication and interaction of all components that
affect the operation of the system.
For example: The Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) coil emits
an electromagnetic field. A toothed ring on the wheel
passes by the WSS and disrupts this electromagnetic
field. The disruption in the field causes the WSS to pro-
duce a sinusoidal (AC) voltage signal.
Connector End View
This column contains the reference to the appropriate
connector end view.
