Using Telnet
The details here assume the use of the Telnet program supplied as part of Windows
95/NT. This program is installed as part of the IP Network Protocol.
1. In Windows, select
Start | Run
and enter
telnet
.
– Alternately setup a shortcut to the program
telnet.exe
.
2. Under
Terminal | Preferences
ensure that
Local echo
is off and that the
Emulation
is set to
VT-100/ANSI
.
3. Select
Connect | Remote System
.
4. Enter the INDeX IP address as the
Host Name
and then click on
Connect
.
5. Pressing
Enter
should now display the normal INDeX log on.
Using FTP
The details here assume the use of the FTP program supplied as part of Windows
95/NT. This program is installed as part of the IP Network Protocol.
The INDeX only supports the use of command line FTP. Other graphical FTP
programs require support for the list command which is not provided by the INDeX.
The INDeX system must be se t up with the appropriate FTP access level..
To set FTP Access Level
1. Log on (see page 20) and from the
Administration
menu, select
System
then
Installation
,
Network setup
and
SNMP Setup
.
2. Check that
Allow FTP
option has been set to
yes
and that the
FTP
upload/download levels
are set to 1 (highest security level) and 8 (lowest
security level) respectively.
3. From the
Administration
menu, select
System
then
User name.
Check that
the engineer is allocated privilege level 1 and that any other users are allocated
their appropriate level of access.
4. From the
Administration
menu, select
Permissions
and check that the
permissions list is set up for the appropriate levels of access/security
