Logging On
You can log on to the INDeX 30 system using either Kermit (see page 18) or
communication software such as HyperTerminal. When performing Uploads and
Downloads (see pages 36 and 38) Kermit
must be
used.
Using Kermit
1. Connect the serial cable between your PC Port 1 and Port 1 (RH port viewed
from the front) of the INDeX 30. Only Avaya supplied serial cables should be
used otherwise damage to the INDeX or connected equipment may occur.
2. At your PC, type
c:\kermit
(or the appropriate directory)
3. Type
Kermit
and press
↵
.
The version of Kermit should appear, followed by the
Kermit prompt (
Kermit-MS>
). For uploads and downloads, check that the
version of Kermit is V2.29b (that version only and not higher or lower).
4. At the Kermit prompt, type
set port 1
to select the PC serial port. Use
set port ?
to display help.
5. At the Kermit prompt, type
set baud 9600
or the baud rate required (use
set
baud ?
to display information). INDeX 30 supports , 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800,
9600, 19200 and 38400 baud.
6. At the Kermit prompt, type
c (
for connect) and press
↵
twice.
7. If there is no response or a garbled response, change the baud rate setting
being used. If okay, the
INDeX Administration
menu will appear.
Note and record the INDeX CPU serial number for future reference (required for
the issue of any future licence key).
8. Enter the
Username>
and press
↵
.
The
Password>
will appear. Enter your
programming password and press
↵
.
Remember that the INDeX 30 is case sensitive.
After three incorrect logon attempts, the INDeX 30 locks the programming port
for one hour. You can reset the system by switching the power off and on again
or you may use the other serial port.
9. If the password is OK, the resources menu is displayed; stating software version
level and language being used. Press
↵
to display the
Administration
menu.
