Setting the INDeX IP Network Settings
Unless setting up a private IP connection between your own PC and the INDeX 30,
you must consult with the Network Manager for the IP settings to use.
Enable IP Networking
1. Using a serial port programming connection, log on to the INDeX.
2. From the
Administration
menu, select
System
, then
Installation
and then
Network setup
.
3. Enter values for the
IP address
,
Subnet mask
and
Default Gateway
.
Note that if you need to change these values later you will need to restart the
INDeX 30 after making the changes.

LAN Connection :
The LAN network manager will determine the values you should enter.

Direct Connection :
For a private one to one programming connection you can enter the following
values :
INDEX 30 :
–
IP Address :
Enter 172.16.6.180
–
Subnet mask :
Enter 255.255.255.0
PC Settings :
– Enter the same values in the PC's IP settings but change its IP address to
172.16.6.181.
4. Select
Start Network
and select
yes
. If the settings are okay the
Start Network
option should now display
OK
.
5. To allow Telnet access for programming select
Allow Telnet
and set this to
yes
.
6. To allow FTP file upload and download select
Allow FTP
and set this to
yes
.
Testing IP Connection
Ping is a standard IP networking program that can be used to test whether an IP
address is accessible.
1. In Windows, select
Start | Run
.
2. Enter
ping
n
where
n
is the IP address of the INDeX.
3. The ping window should show whether the connection is successful and the
route taken.
To Disable IP Networking
1. Telnet and FTP access can be disabled immediately by setting the
Allow Telnet
and
Allow FTP
options to
no
.
2. To disable IP networking, remove the IP address value and restart the INDeX.
