
To run the nbtstat command from the operating system
1. Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt to display the command
prompt window.
The Command Prompt window appears.
2. At the prompt, type nbtstat with the required parameters.
3. Press Enter.
The system runs the nbtstat utility.
4. Type Exit to exit the Command Prompt window.
The netstat command
The netstat command displays current TCP/IP network connections and protocol statistics.
Netstat command syntax
The netstat command uses the following syntax:
netstat [-a] [-e] [-n] [-s] [-p proto] [-r] [interval]
Parameter
Description
-a
Displays all connections and listening ports.
-e
Displays Ethernet statistics. This can be combined
with the -s option.
-n
Displays addresses and port numbers in numerical
form.
-s
Displays the statistics for each protocol.
-p proto
Shows connections for the protocol specified by proto.
Proto can be tcp or udp. If used with the -s option, proto
can be tcp, udp, or ip.
-r
Displays the contents of the routing table.
interval
Redisplays selected statistics, pausing between each
display. Press Ctrl+C to stop redisplaying statistics.
