WARNING
Do not remove the pressure cap from
a hot engine. Wait until the coolant
temperature is below 120°F (50°C) before
removing the pressure cap. Heated
coolant spray or steam can cause
personal injury.
5. Drain the cooling system. Do not allow
the cooling system to dry out. Restore™
will not be effective if the cooling system
is allowed to dry out.
WARNING
Coolant is toxic. Keep away from children
and pets. If not reused, dispose of in
accordance with local environmental
regulations.
6. Immediately add one gallon (3.8 liters) of
Fleetguard™ Restore™, Restore Plus™,
or equivalent for each 10-15 gallons (38
to 57 liters) of cooling system capacity,
and fill the system with plain water.
NOTICE
Fleetguard® Restore™ contains no
antifreeze. Do not allow the cooling
system to freeze during the cleaning
operation.
7. Fill the cooling system until coolant is
visible in the sight glass on the coolant
reservoir with plain water.
WARNING
Do not stand near the surge tank or
radiator while operating engine with
the pressure cap off. If the vehicle is
equipped with a fill door on the side of
the surge tank, keep it closed.
8. Open all coolant flow valves to the heater,
if equipped. Wait two to three minutes,
without starting the engine, to allow the
coolant level to stabilize.
9. Turn the HVAC temperature control knob
fully clockwise to select maximum heat
allowing maximum coolant flow through
the heater core. The blower motor must
be turned ON to activate the water control
valve.
10. With the pressure cap off:
- Operate the engine at LOW idle for two
minutes.
- Turn engine OFF and add plain water to
bring the level back to FULL.
11. With the pressure cap off:
- Operate the engine at LOW idle for one
minute to allow adequate oil pressure to
build throughout the engine.
- Operate the engine at HIGH idle but
no more than 2,000 rpm until the
thermostat opens.
Note: Monitor the coolant temperature
with INSITE™ electronic service tool. If
the thermostat does not open before the
coolant temperature reaches 195°F (90° C),
discontinue the flush operation, inspect the
thermostat, and replace it if necessary.
12. Operate the engine at low idle for two
minutes before shutting it down. This
allows adequate cool down of pistons,
cylinders, bearings, and turbocharger
components.
