6. Installation
6.1 Preparation and equipments before installation

Work preparation
Required materials and major devices:
a. The fan coil to be used shall have the conformity certificated issued by the factory, or quality appraisal
documents.
b. The structural and installation type, outlet direction, water inlet position of the fan coil unit shall meet the
requirement of design and installation.
c. The major materials and accessories for installation shall have specifications and types that meet the
design requirements and be provided with conformity certificates by the factories.
d. Electrical hammers, manual and power drills, adjustable wrenches, socket wrenches, steel saws, tube
pliers, hand hammers, bench vices, thread taps, thread reamers, horizontal ruler, plum bob, hand
pumps, pressure table and gas welding tools.

Working condition
a. The fan coil and its major parts and accessories are arrived at the work site, tools needed for
installation are provided and site, water and power source for inspection before installation are
available.
b. Structural construction is complete, including waterproof layer works on the roof, indoor walls and floor
finish is complete.
c. The position and dimension of the installation meet the requirements of design, dry pipe installation of
the air conditioning system is complete and the elevation of the reserved port of the branch pipe
connecting to fan coil meet the requirement.

Operation process
a. The process
:
Preliminary inspection → Work preparation → Test running of the motor → Heat
exchanger water pressure test → Manufacturer and installation of the suspension bracket →Installation
of fan coil → Pipe connection → Inspection
b. Before installing the fan coil, the case and surface heat exchanger of each motor shall be checked for
damage, rusting and other defects.
c. Each fan coil shall undergo power-on testing, during which there shall be no attrition between the
mechanical parts and no leakage in the electrical parts.
d. Each fan coil shall undergo water pressure testing , with the testing intensity equaling 1.5 times the
work pressure. Observe for 2-3min after the pressure is set, there shall be no leakage.
e. The fan coil shall be suspended horizontally with the suspension bracket installed even and secured, at
correct position. The suspension rod shall not be allowed to sway freely. The connection between the
rod and the tray shall be secured evenly with two nuts.
f. The connection between cold/heat medium water pipe and the fan coil shall be structured with steel or
copper pipe , with connecting pipe being straight. The tightening shall be applied at the hex connector
with a wrench to prevent the copper pipe from being damaged. It is suggested that the condensed
water pipe be structured with soft material. When the length of the hose is not greater than 300mm, a
transparent rubber pipe shall be used, with a clamp to avoid leakage and correct slope so that the
condensed water can smoothly flow to designated position and there will be no still water on the water
plate.
g. The connection between the fan coil and the cold/heat medium pipe shall be made after the system
cleaning and pollution discharge to avoid heat exchanger jams.
h. Access doors shall be provided for the buried installed horizontal fan coil and the false ceiling , for the
convenience of the removal and service of the unit.

Quality standard
Items to be ensured:
a. The fan coil be installed stably and securely.
Inspection method: Measure with a horizontal ruler and a plumb.
b. No leakage at the connection between the fan coil and its inlet and outlet water pipes is permitted. The
pipe of condensed water shall have a slope meeting the training requirement and tight connection to the
vent and air return chamber.
Inspection method: Measuring with a ruler, observation and checking the testing records.
c. Basic items: The vent of the fan coil shall be tightly connected with no air leakage.
Inspection method: Observation.
