Sync I/O Settings
The I/O settings control the behavior of the Sonar's synchronization hardware. The sync output allows
other data collection systems to be synchronized with the Scout MkII's data collection cycle. The Sync input
synchronizes the Scout MkII's data collection cycle with an external timing source such as another Sonar
system.
Sync IN Enable
This setting enables the Sync Input. When the Sync Input is enabled the Scout MkII will only ping when the
Sync In pin is high (TTL levels). The Scout MkII will not ping when the Sync In pin is low. Sync in is disabled
by default.
Sync OUT Enable
This settings enables the Sync Output. When the Sync Output is enabled the Scout MkII will send out a TTL
compatible synchronization pulse on its Sync Out pin. The pulse shape is determined by the pulse length
and pulse decimation settings. The default value is disabled.
Sync OUT Pulse Length
The pulse length setting controls the length of the Sync Output pulse. Its units are microseconds and can be
set from 1 to 1000 (1 ms). The default value 1000 uS (1 ms).
Sync Pulse Every
This setting controls the Sync Output decimation counter. It can be set from 0 to 30. A setting of 0 will send
one synchronization pulse every ping. A setting of 30 will send one synchronization pulse every 30 pings.
This feature will allow other data collection systems to synchronize with the Scout MkII that do not work
well with its high ping rates (up to 60 Hz). The default value is 1 (1 pulse every other ping).
Sync Output Active
The Sync OUT pulse can be configured to trigger as either an Active High or Active Low depending on what is
required by the user's system. The figures below show the different Sync Out pulses.
