Connect Incoming Telephone Lines

Before connecting the telephone company lines, test for dial tone at the network interface jack (step 10).
These jacks are the lines from the local telephone company.

To test the incoming telephone

line, connect a standard touch-tone or
rotary phone to the first network
interface jack. Lift the handset and
listen for dial tone.
Repeat for each network interface jack.
Go to step 14.

Route the cords through the
hook below the jacks. Leave 2 feet of
slack to keep the cords from pulling
loose when removing modules.
If you do not hear a dial tone on one
or more of the incoming lines,
contact your local phone company
and ask a representative to check
the service.
Connect the free end of each line
cord to a network interface jack.
Connect the outside line cords to
the line jacks on the module(s). Start
with the jack labeled "1." Continue in
numerical order.
