The DCW envelope works in combination with the rotary DCW control above it. If the rotary
control is at zero, only the envelope can alter the waveform. On the other hand, if the
rotary DCW control is at maximum, the DCW envelope has no effect–it can’t go higher than
maximum (unless the DCW envelope’s Depth is set to a negative number… more on that
You can create and edit envelopes simply by clicking and dragging. We’ll go into more detail
about envelopes in the next section, but you can learn a lot simply by experimenting, and
by seeing how the preset patches use DCW envelopes.
4.2.6. How to edit envelopes in the Synthesis window
♪
: Envelopes in the Synthesis window offer a quick way to affect the sound while you're
programming, but for complete access to all envelope parameters, go to the
Generally, click and hold any point on the envelope. Moving the point upwards will increase
the level of modulation, moving it downwards decreases modulation. Moving a point to the
left makes that stage of the envelope happen sooner; to the right, later. When you trigger
the envelope by pressing a key on the onscreen keyboard or your external controller, you’ll
see a light blue dot (shown below as "Current state") move along the envelope display over
time, giving you a clear illustration of how each segment of time works.
!: Keep in mind that later time segments of the DCW envelope won’t have an audible effect if they
happen after the AMP envelope has already closed.
Beneath the graphic envelope display are numeric values for each parameter. You can edit
these numbers by clicking and dragging on the number you want to change; the graphic
display will reflect your changes.
