Maintenance and Cleaning
MAINTENANCE
¡
After any repair,
after continuous use dur-
ing a longer period and
when taking the unit out
of storage after a lon-
ger period, check to
ensure that all protective
devices (see list below)
work correctly.
¡
Clean UV-protection
glass with a glass
cleaner that leaves no
residue, whenever it
becomes contaminated
in order to prevent
unwanted shadowing
and localised overheat-
ing. (The latter will cause
stress to the UV-protec-
tion glass). After that,
polish it with a soft and
lint-free cloth. Check
whether there is dam-
age or cracks in the
UV-protection glass. It
must be changed imme-
diately when it has
become visibly dam-
aged to such an extent
that its effectiveness is
impaired.

Check reflector for
damage or cracks. A
cracked or damaged
reflector should be
replaced immediately
by ARRI Service (see
page 99 for address
details) to avoid dam-
age of lamphead or
personal injuries.

Check connectors
and cables for visible
damage on a regular
basis. Never operate
lamphead when any
damage to cables,
plugs, lamp-holder or
housing is visible. In
those cases, disconnect
lamphead from ballast
immediately and secure
it against re-operation.

Check all electrical
and mechanical connec-
tions for perfect opera-
tion on a regular basis.
CLEANING
¡
Always clean
lamphead and ballast
after use. Check if any
form of debris is block-
ing ventilation slots (e.g.
leaves, fluff etc.).
If so, remove it and
clean slots.
¡
Clean all electric
contacts - of all connec-
tors as well as of
lamp-holder and safety
loop contact strip - from
dust and dirt.
¡
Never dip either
lamphead nor ballast
into water or any other
liquids.
¡
Never use deter-
gents for cleaning.

Safety cut out when
UV-protection glass is
taken off or broken

front housing is removed
