Limit Switch Settings
(based on Rotax 912 and 912S)
For initial settings we suggest the following:
For propellers fitted with standard ARPLAST controller
Fine pitch limit set to give 5200 rpm at full throttle with aircraft tethered.
Course pitch limit set to give 5200 rpm at full throttle in level flight at full course setting.
For aircraft fitted with CSC1 Constant Speed controller
Fine pitch limit set to give 5800 rpm (absolute max) at full throttle with aircraft tethered.
It may be prudent to limit pitch such that max obtainable rpm is 5500 rpm or less.
The lower the rpm the less likely the engine is to over-speed in the event of a pitch change failure.
Course pitch limit set to give 5200 rpm at full throttle in level flight at full course setting.
Spinner Clearance
Always allow at least 3mm clearance between the propeller blades and spinner. This allows for slight
movement of the blades during normal operation. Ensure this clearance is checked throughout the pitch
range.
Leadscrew Cleaning and lubrication
The leadscrew should be periodically removed, cleaned, lubricated with a light grease and replaced.
Remove the A/C spinner and slide the tube cover off the micro switch housing.
Remove the three M4 cap head screws. Taking care not to
damage the electrical wires allow the motor assembly to drop
down.
Using a flat screwdriver unscrew the leadscrew assembly.
Remove the leadscrew assembly. Clean it with a solvent but
do not wash the bearing. Inspect the leadscrew carefully and
replace if wear is detected. Lubricate the screw with a light
grease. Re-assemble and check proper operation.
