Insulating with Arma-Chek D >> Using Pre-Covered Tubes

ARMA-CHEK D PRE-COATED TUBES

Arma-Chek D pre-coated tubes are supplied with a self-
adhesive seal in 1 metre lengths. The covering fi nishes
approximately 10 mm before the end of the tube in order
to guarantee that the insulation material is installed “un-
der tension” around butt joints.
The Arma-Chek D pre-coated tube range is available for
pipes with an outer diameter of up to 89 mm. For larger-
sized pipes with an outer diameter of 102 mm up to 160
mm  special  (non  self-adhesive)  pre-coated  tubes  are
available on request.

Note:

Due  to  the  semi-fl exible  nature  of  the  products

sleeving around bends is not possible!

INSULATING STRAIGHT PIPES (OD < 89 MM)

1.  Clean  the  pipe  surface  with  Armafl ex  cleaner
removing any dust or other contamination.
2.  Snap the tube onto the pipe.

3.  Peel  back  both  release  paper  strips  step  by  step,
200 mm at a time. Align the seam joints and apply
heavy pressure to the complete seam, this action will
   allow closure.

   Note:

Always check the seam is fully bonded before

   proceeding to the next steps.
4.  Lay the covering tightly round the tube and fi x using
   the factory applied adhesive strip.
5.  Use  correct Armafl ex  adhesive  to  secure  the  longi-
tudinal  seam.    Apply  on  one  side  only.  Always
   remember to “stagger” longitudinal seams.
6.  Secure the butt end on the under face of the Armafl ex
tube with the Armafl ex adhesive and also provide a
“wet seal“ to the adjoining tube.
7.

For internal application:

The  butt  joints  have  to  be  over  secured  with  the
   matching  50mm  width  self-adhesive  Arma-Chek  D
   tape.

50 mm

For external application:

Over seal all seam and jointing details of the covering
with  a  “bead”  of Arma-Chek  Black  or  Grey  Mastic.
Ensure all joints are staggered away from the direct
patch of rain, provide a watershed.
8.  Use  the  Arma-Chek  mastic  to  seal  all  seams  and
joints! All seams and joints to have an allowance of a
min. of 10 mm wide and 3 mm thick mastic “beading”
   applied.

USING THE ARMAFLEX TEMPLATE

The fabrication of bends and tees using Armafl ex tube
requires tubes to be cut to different angles. In order to
make this process quicker and easier, the Armafl ex tem-
plate is provided on every box of Armafl ex.
Additional copies are available on request (contact your
local Armacell representative for more information).
1.   Place a copy of the Armafl ex template face up on a
     table or worktop.
2.   Line a tube of Armafl ex across the template parallel
     along the horizontal base line.
3.   Select the required angle cut from the template and
     cut along this line.
