Zone 1
Area in which an explosive gas atmosphere can be expected to occur periodically or occasionally
during normal operation.
Zone 2
Area in which an explosive gas atmosphere is not expected to occur during normal operation. If it does
occur, then it is only of short duration.
Zone 21
Location at which an explosive dust atmosphere in the form of a cloud of dust in the air occasionally
occurs during normal operation.
Zone 22
Area in which it is unlikely that an explosive dust atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible
dust in air will occur when operated as intended. If it does occur, however, it is only for a short period
of time.
In the event of deviations from the ATEX standard temperature version, this must be specially marked.
