4. Connect the QuickSwap Tubing to the Purge Gas Tubing
1
Hold QuickSwap to prevent it from turning and gently unroll the stainless
steel tubing enough to reach the end of the purge gas tubing.
2
Connect the tubing from
Fitting 1
to the 1/16-inch fitting from the Auxiliary
EPC or the PCM. This is a Swagelok connection. There is a union in the kit
for use with your own gas supply line should you need it. Finger-tighten the
connection.
3
Tighten the fitting about 15 degrees more with appropriate wrenches.
5. Turn on the MSD and Begin Pumpdown
The complete pumpdown cycle takes time. See your particular MSD
documentation for details.
By starting pumpdown at this step of the installation, pumpdown can happen
while QuickSwap installation continues.
While pumpdown proceeds, continue with the installation.
6. Start the MSD ChemStation and Load a Checkout Method
For initial installation, Agilent recommends using one of the checkout
methods provided on the QuickSwap User Information CD-ROM.
1
Review the method parameters and conversion information for each.
2
Load the most applicable checkout method and resolve any method issues.
3
Apply the changes and save the method (using a new name).

Hydrogen is both a fire and explosion hazard when mixed with air. For this reason,
hydrogen must not be used as the purge gas.
