Measuring Absolute and Relative Power
Starting the Measurement

Press A
PPL
to activate the “Select Applications” menu.

Choose “Powermeter”.
The OLA begins to measure the optical power received by the
optical head(s).
Checking the Measurement Conditions

If not already done, check the general instrument settings by
pressing P
RESET
(see section 1.6 “Getting Started” on page 31).
Press
P
REVIOUS
to return to the Powermeter screen.

Press
S
ETTINGS
to check or change the measurement conditions.
The same setting of
“T avg” is used by the
“Insertion Loss”
application.
Average Time
The parameter “T avg” shows the length of the
time interval during which the power value is averaged. You can
change the size of this interval by repeatedly pressing
A
VERAGE
.
