Operating in CI Mode

7000/7010 Series TQ GC/MS Operating Manual

To Pumpdown and Switch from EI to CI 
Mode

This procedure assumes that the instrument is switching from EI to CI mode, 
and will be PCI tuned using methane after the system is stable. 

Procedure 

1

Follow the instructions for the EI MS pumpdown. (See 

“To Pumpdown the 

MS” 

on page 120.) 

After the software prompts you to turn on the GC/MS interface heater and 
GC oven, perform the following steps.

Load a PCI tune file by clicking on the 

Files and Report

 tab, then click 

Load

 in 

the 

Tune File

 area. Select a PCI tune file, and click 

OK

. Always start up and 

verify system performance in PCI mode before switching to NCI.
