4.1 Management tools
More complex interventions into the system are sometimes necessary to perform spcial tasks. Some of the
tools required for this purpose are described below.
4.1.1 Manual resetting / deleting the registry
If it is necessary to reset the registry of a Windows CE device into its default state, one way to do this is to
delete the registry.
•
Open Start / Programs / Sys Tools / Sys Tools.
A dialogue box appears: press the Erase button.
A confirmation message will then appear shortly afterwards.
•
Switch the device off and then on again.
•
The next time you boot the device, the registry will be reset to its default state. The default
parameters set by ACD are then entered into the registry and are saved persistently.
The device then reboots again automatically.
•
The device configuration is then customised (TCP/IP parameters, wireless profile, device name etc.).
If the WLAN profile was previously saved with Start/Programs/WLAN/Save Summit WLAN Profiles,
this step does not have to be performed for the wireless card.
•
Persistently save the registry, if required.
4.1.2 SetReg and GetReg
The SetReg.exe and GetReg.exe programs are system programs for ACD Windows CE devices.
The SetReg.exe program is used to enter the contents of REG files into the registry. The standard parameter
is the name including the absolute path of a .reg file. Example:
SetReg.exe \Flashdisk\Application.reg
As the .reg file extension in the registry is linked to SetReg.exe, each .reg file in Explorer can be installed by
double-tapping the file icon. Other command line parameters can be used to influence the program's
functionality (see programming documentation).
The GetReg.exe program exports entire registry branches and save them in .reg files. These can be entered
later into the registry from the SetReg.exe program.
