2.7.6 Remote desktop client
An RDP client is installed on Windows CE devices to set up a Remote Desktop Connection in the operating
system.
2.7.6.1 Create a RDP profile under Windows CE 6.0
Go to Start / Programs / RDP Client or Start /
Programs / Remote Desktop Connection to
access the client.
ATTENTION
The dialogue boxes are adapted to a VGA resolution. For this
reason, parts of the dialogue boxes cannot be viewed with a QVGA
resolution.
If the name or IP address of the terminal server is entered and the Connect option is activated to set up the
connection, the Credential Manager appears and prompts the user to enter his/her user name and
password.
The user name is entered in the format <Domain>\<User>.
To create a session profile file that starts
automatically when the device is booted, launch
the configuration interface by clicking the Options
button.
Once you have entered the terminal server, press the "TAB" twice and then "Enter" on the virtual keyboard to
open the Save As… save dialogue box and save the session. This should be stored in the \Flashdisk folder.
If the RDP file you have created is launched with a double-click, the Credential Manager appears and
prompts the user to enter his/her user name and password. The saving of passwords is regarded by
Microsoft as a security risk and is therefore disabled in the default settings.
To enable the "Save password" setting, it is necessary to change a parameter in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services]
DisablePasswordSaving=1
