3.2 Netinfo - ensuring network connectivity on device start
Integrate the NetInfo program into the STARTUP configuration (see Chapter 1.4.3) to ensure that a
Windows CE device is assigned with valid IP parameters by DHCP before a program is started which
requires an online network connection.
The program opens a window on the screen where the network card data (IP address, name, MAC address)
are displayed.
Once a valid IP address has been detected (unequal "0.0.0.0"), the program is closed and a batch (where
the program was accessed) can continue to run.
If several network cards are supported, they will all be displayed in a list.
If no valid IP address is detected after 20 seconds, the program is closed.
Note: the window is always shown in the foreground.

3.3 Installing the WLAN network connectivity
If the Windows CE devices contain wireless cards, they can be connected to an existing WLAN. Two actions
must be performed first:
•
Configure the WLAN network profile with valid TCP/IPparameters, as described in Chapter2.6.5.
•
Installing a wireless profile. This can be done in different ways on the devices which are described
below.
The Wireless Zero Configuration Tool (WZC) from Microsoft is the tool to be used to install the wireless
profile. The advantage of using this tool is that it can be used in the same way for all of the wireless cards.
Proprietary configuration tools from the wireless card manufacturers are also used that feature options that
are not supported by the Wireless Zero Configuration Tool (for example Summit Client Utility). They usually
support better software quality to ensure a more stable working environment and are recommended by ACD.
