2.6.6 Wireless LAN (WLAN)
If the Windows CE devices contain wireless cards, they can be connected to an existing WLAN:
•
Configure the WLAN network profile with valid TCP/IPparameters, as described in Chapter 2.6.5.
•
Installing a wireless profile. This can be done with the Wireless Zero Configuration Tool (WZC) from
Microsoft or with the wireless card manufacturer's proprietary configuration tool. The latter is
described in a separate chapter.
2.6.7 Bluetooth
A Bluetooth module can also be integrated as an option in all devices. This is a USB/HCI module according
to the Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Standard (M210SE/M215SE) or the BCSP/HCI module according to the
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR standard (M260SE).
A
Gross data transfer rate
up to 3 MBit/s can be achieved with both modules. The serial connection of the
Bluetooth module limits the net data transfer rate that can be reached (M260SE).
The integrated Bluetooth stack of Windows CE is used. The module has a range of approx. 10 m.
Bluetooth devices in the environment can be searched for by clicking Start / Settings / Control Panel /
Bluetooth Device Properties.
Click the Scan Device button to search for
Bluetooth devices in the environment.
If other Bluetooth devices are found by the Windows CE device, the Windows CE device adopts the client
role and the other Bluetooth device adopts the role of the server. Each Bluetooth profile can usually adopt
both roles.
Some of the Bluetooth profiles are described below.
