7.2 Cleaning and Disinfecting the Meter

To clean and disinfect without damaging the meter, follow these procedures carefully.

When to Clean and Disinfect the Meter

• Clean the meter to remove visible dirt or other material prior to disinfecting.
• Clean and disinfect the meter at least once per week, or when blood is present on the surface of the

meter.

• Clean and disinfect the meter before allowing anyone else to handle the meter.

Do not allow anyone else

to use the meter on themselves for testing purposes.
