1.3.5.3
Network communication (Ethernet)
The Ethernet interface can be configured for remote network communication. Ethernet connects the
XSeries
G5
device to a communication network and allows remote access or management over that
network.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
XSeries
G5
devices have only one Ethernet interface. If the device is
configured and connected for network communication, direct connection to the Ethernet port
for local access is not supported without disconnection from network. Use other options for
local access in this case.
The default Ethernet configuration supports direct connection for local communication. To
support a network connection, Ethernet requires the change of the default configuration to
one valid for the network.

Permanent Ethernet connections should
use the internal Ethernet connector
(Onboard RJ-45).

The PCCU32 software running in a Windows
®
environment is the main user interface to the XSeries
G5
device. PCCU32 supports several view levels and can be configured to provide role-based secure
access to the device for the following tasks:
Initial configuration and commissioning (setup)
Operation and performance monitoring
Adding, configuring and optimizing applications (configuration, customization)
Calibration
Data collection
Device configuration backup
Device software updates
Application licensing
Report view and generation
Troubleshooting
PCCU32 supports local or remote connections with the XSeries
G5
device over serial (RS-232), USB,
Ethernet, or wireless (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) interfaces.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
PCCU32 includes context-sensitive online help topics for most screens.
Topics contain parameter and function description as well as step-by-step instructions. Additional
information or reference topics may be available for complex functions. Click
Help
from the screen
of interest to display its associated topic.
The XSeries
G5
supports the following power configurations:
12V Battery and 12V Solar Panel
12V Battery and External DC power supply connected to the charger input connector,
voltage set to 14.5V to 15.5V, power supply must be rated for 2A minimum.
External 12Vdc to 14Vdc power connected to the Battery input connector.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The XSeries
G5
design includes a super capacitor (Super CAP) that
serves as a short-term power reservoir. In the event of a loss of power or reset, the charged
super capacitor prevents the supply voltage from falling to zero for a short period of time
(2.5 seconds). This delay allows the system time to save all persistent data such as
trending, restart configuration, and other information.
