IEEE 1588 (PTP)
GUID-424227EC-74A1-4628-8948-C1876840ABFE v2
Precision Time Protocol (PTP) is enabled/disabled using the Ethernet configuration
tool /ECT) in PCM600.
PTP
can be set to
On
,
Off
or
Slave only
. When set to
Slave only
the IED is
connected to the PTP-group and will synchronize to the grandmaster but cannot
function as the grandmaster.
A PTP-group is set up by connecting the IEDs to a network and enabling PTP. To
set one IED as the grandmaster change Priority2 to 127 instead of the default 128.

Figure 131:
Enabling PTP in ECT
The
PTP VLAN
tag must have the same value in station clock and in the IED. The
default value is set to 0.
The
PTP VLAN
tag does not need to be the same on all access points in one IED. It
is possible to mix as long as they are the same for all devices on each subnet.
