Installing the ADF
- Install the ADF by reversing the removal procedures described above. Refer to the
User Instructions
provided with the 3M™ Speedglas™ ADF
for instructions on assembly and use of the ADF.
Never begin welding unless the ADF, inside and outside protection plates, and silver front panel have been properly installed.
W
WARNING
1. Should the 3M™ Speedglas™ Auto Darkening Filter (ADF) fail to switch to dark mode upon striking an arc, stop welding immediately
and inspect the ADF as described in these
User Instructions
. Continued use of an ADF that fails to switch to the dark state
may result in
permanent eye injury and vision loss.
If the problem cannot be identified and corrected, do not use the ADF; contact your supervisor,
distributor or 3M for assistance.
2. Carefully inspect the complete 9100 ADF before each use. Cracked, pitted or scratched filter glass or protection plates reduce vision and can
seriously impair protection. All damaged components should be replaced immediately. Remove any protective film from the visor.
3. The 3M™ Speedglas™ 9100 Series ADFs are not suitable for laser welding or welding processes that require shade 14 or higher filters.
Use of
this product for these applications may result in permanent eye injury and vision loss.
4. The 9100 Series ADFs are not intrinsically safe.
Do not use in flammable or explosive atmospheres. Doing so may result in serious injury
or death.
5. Only operate the ADF at temperatures between 23°F (–5°C) and 131°F (+55°C). If used outside of this range, the filter may not perform as
designed and
may result in permanent eye injury and vision loss.
6. Always ensure required welding shield and protection plates are in place and properly secured prior to welding.
