Stage 3: Editing the isolinux.cfg File
In order to obtain an updated isolinux.cfg file, either download it from the 3Com website as
described in
Downloading an updated Debian isolinux.cfg file
, or edit it using the steps
detailed in

Downloading an updated Debian isolinux.cfg file
To download an updated Debian isolinux.cfg file from the 3Com website, follow these 6
steps:

, navigate to the Support page.

Login with your Username and Password.

Under
Product Documentation
, select the
V6100
link and click on
V6100 OSN Server
.

Select
Linux Boot Image
and select the installation you need.

Download the
isolinux.cfg
compressed file to a folder called
Partner Install
on your PC
and extract it.

Editing the isolinux.cfg File
To edit the isolinux.cfg file, follow these 18 steps:

Open the
Partner Install
folder and select the
isolinux.cfg
file, with a text editor that
supports UNIX file format (e.g., PSPad, UltraEdit).

Insert the following line in the beginning of the file, so that it is the first line.
serial 0 115200

Locate the line: "
DEFAULT <my_kernel>
". It is usually the first line of the file and
appears as follows.
DEFAULT /install/vmlinuz

Under the “default” line there should be a line that begins with: "append".

Add the following parameters to the "append" line.
text console=ttyS0,115200
In the above string, “ttyS0,115200” consists of a captial “S”, only zeros and one
comma.
The “default <my_kernel>” and “append” lines should look like the following example:
DEFAULT /install/vmlinuz
APPEND vga=normal initrd=/install/initrd.gz text
console=ttyS0,115200 ramdisk_size=10240 root=/dev/rd/0
devfs=mount,dall rw –

Locate the line: "prompt <flag>". It usually appears as "prompt 1". Change it to "prompt
0".
