Running the Diagnostic Tests
To run the tests, proceed as follows:
1 Check that the NIC is installed and connected to the
network correctly (see Chapter 2).
2 Boot the computer under DOS.
The Configuration and Diagnostic Program will not run
if memory managers or other device drivers have
been loaded.
To allow the Configuration and Diagnostic Program to
run, do one of the following:
■
Boot the PC from a DOS diskette that does not
contain device drivers.
■
If your computer is running an operating system other
than DOS, exit to the DOS prompt. For instructions,
see the operating system documentation.
3 Insert the EtherDisk diskette in drive A and type the
following at the DOS prompt:
a:\install [Enter]
4 Select Configuration and Diagnostic Program and
press [Enter].
5 Complete the instructions in the next section,
“Running the Group 1 Tests.”
You can also launch the diagnostic program from the
command line by typing:
3c515cfg [Enter]
Running the Group 1 Tests
1 Under the Test pull-down menu, select Run Tests
and press [Enter].
The Run dialog box appears. The
Start
button is selected.
2 Press [Enter] to start the tests.
Group 1 tests run ten times unless you specify otherwise.
The test results are displayed on the screen in the
Results column.
