Networking Compatibility

Prestige
is compatible with remote access products from other manufacturers such as
Ascend, Cisco, and 3Com. Furthermore, it supports Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT
remote access capability.
1.3 The Built-in Modem
The
Prestige 100MH
features one 56 Kbps modem that you can connect directly to your local
PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network), thereby saving you the cost of buying additional
external modems. The built-in modem is capable of maximum throughput of 56 Kilobits per
second (kbps). Please note that due to the local telephone regulations and the line quality of
your local loop, your
Prestige
may or may not achieve the theoretical maximum throughput.
The modem supports either K56flex™ or X2™ standard, depending on the modem module
installed in the
Prestige
. In either case, the modem is firmware upgradable to V90, which is
the latest international standard sanctioned by the ITU (International Telecommunication

Modem of either model also supports V.42bis compression to speed up data transfer.
