4. Hardware Description

4.3 Status Indicators
The BPS12 provides three LEDs on the front and rear panels to inform you of device status and
an audio alarm to alert you of conditions that require your attention. The front and rear panel
LEDs are equivalent and always display the same status messages.
4.3.1 Power LED
The Power LED displays ac power status, along with battery charge and discharge status, as
indicated in figure 4-3.
4.3.2 Load LED
The Load LED displays the battery capacity status and alerts you when abnormal battery
conditions may require your attention. Figure 4-4 displays the conditions that the Load LED
indicates .
Power LED Color Status
Green - Continuous ac power is on, battery is fully charged
Orange - Continuous ac power is on, battery is charging
Red - Continuous ac power is off, battery is discharging
All LEDs are Flashing Red System has failed OR
System failure is imminent OR
System is shutting down because batteries are deeply discharged

Off Standby switch is off OR
ac power is off and batteries are discharged and disconnected OR
ac power is off and batteries are disconnected because of a failure condition

Load LED Color Status
Green - Continuous Output voltage magnitude is at least –48 V.
Orange - Continuous Output voltage magnitude is less than –48 V.
Red - Flashing: 0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off BPS12 output current exceeds 10 A.
All LEDs are Flashing Red System has failed OR
System failure is imminent OR
System is shutting down because batteries are deeply
discharged.
