Chapter 7 Installing GPS Antenna Feeder System
The installation personnel shall be skillful, and those who work at heights are required
to have obtained relevant certificates, be in good health, suffer no acrophobia, follow
the safety regulations and have purchased personal insurance. In addition, they are
prohibited from drinking alcohol during working.

Installation Environment Inspection

Lightning Protection and Grounding
Lightning rod, lightning grounding post, and outdoor lightning protective grounding
cable shall be installed by the network operator. The engineering supervisor shall
check if the outdoor lightning protective grounding cable is in the proper place and
the section of grounding cable is over 50 mm2.

Pole and Bracket
The network operator finishes the installation of antenna bracket and pole based
on the engineering design requirements. The tightness and wind-resistance of
pole and bracket shall meet the design requirements.

Feeder Cabling
The engineering supervisor and operator representative shall negotiate and
identify the specific route for feeder routing.
Moreover, the network operator is required to drill an opening on a wall or roof
for the installation of outdoor cabling rack and the feeder cable window as part of
the installation environment, because the work involves the infrastructure of the
equipment room.
3.
Safety Measures Inspection

You shall emphasize the safety precautions to the installation personnel.
l
The outdoor installation should be conducted in the daytime on sunny days without
strong wind.
l
The obvious signs shall be set up at the installation site to show the warning for
irrelevant persons away from the site, especially the children. All the materials
and tools on the tower, such as tools not in use and metal parts, which might fall
off to cause casualties, must be put in a canvas tool bag when not in use, and the
bag must be sealed up immediately after tools are taken out of it.
Caution!
The installation personnel working on a tower must wear safety belts, and those
working on the ground must wear safety helmets. Do not wear loose clothes or
slippery shoes when working on a tower.
4.
Prepare Installation Tools
l
Measurement tools: Compass, multimeter, inclinometer and tape measure.
l
Hoisting tools: pully block and rope for hoisting GPS feeder cables.
