Chapter 8. Firmware Upgrade

The device firmware is constantly improved and firmware releases are provided from time to time.

And hence the device has a provision to upgrade the firmware over-the-air. The firmware images

are made available through an FTP server located at

bkup.zilogic.com

. The device is configured

to upgrade the firmware from the above server.

Let’s consider an example, scenario in which the current firmware version 1.2.0 and the new

firmware version is 1.3.0. The sequence for the upgrade is provided below.

The description of each step in the upgrade procedure is provide below.

The device has to be first switched to

UPGD

mode using the

MODE

command.

MODE UPGD

The device responds with an OK message. And then enters

UPGD

mode. When the device enters

UPGD

mode an alert is generated as shown below. The alert indicates the current version of the

firmware running on the device.

ALERT: UPGD MODE: 1.2.0

When in

UPGD

mode, the device can be upgraded using the

UPGRADE

command.

UPGRADE bk-sw-1.3.0.img
