4.5.8. Device Power Status
BlackKite-Fleet is built with internal battery, which powers the device when it’s not connected with
the vehicle battery. This feature enables the user to track the vehicle even when the power input
is disconnected accidentally or intentionally. This feature enables the user to get the device power
status in real time.
The device generates alerts when the device power is disconnected and the device is running on
internal battery.
SMS Alert: When enabled, the device sends out “Device disconnected” message as alert message
to the authorized users.
GPRS Alert: When enabled, the device sends out additional GPRS packet to the server with the
battery status.
Enabling battery Alert:
The device also generates an alert message “Device battery low”, when the internal battery is low
and the device is about power off. This alert is non-configurable, and is sent only to the adminis-
trators.
4.5.9. Emergency Notification
An emergency notification system enables the driver/passenger to notify panic situation to the
fleet operator to seek help. The BlackKite-Fleet, has a dedicated SOS interface to connect a panic
button. When the user presses and holds the button, for 3 seconds, the device generates both SMS
and GPRS alerts. These alerts cannot be disabled.
The panic button can be interfaced to the device as detailed in the Section 6.6, “Connecting an SOS
Button”.
SMS Alerts: When the SOS is triggered, alert message "ALERT: SOS! Immediate attention required!"
will be sent to the administrators. The alert message will be sent out every 2 min until the device
receives the
SOSRESET
command from an administrator.
GPRS Alert: When SOS is triggered, an additional GPRS packet will be sent with SOS flag set. All
subsequent packets will have the SOS flag set until cleared with
SOSRESET
command.
4.5.10. Internal Storage
Disruption of mobile Internet is unavoidable and BlackKite-Fleet handles this with the built in stor-
age. On GPRS outage, the acquired location information will be stored internally and transmitted
