IGNITION SYSTEM

6. Ignition coil resistance

• Measure the primary coil resistance.

• Connect the pocket tester to the ignition

coil, as shown.

YES

Replace the ignition
coil.

7. Crankshaft position sensor resistance

• Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor

connector from the witing harness.

• Connect the pocket tester (

x 100) to

the sensor probe, as shown.

Positive tester probe --> blue/yellow

Negative tester probe --> green

Replace the
crankshaft position
sensor

8. Main switch

Replace the main
switch

• Disconnect the ignition coil leads from the

wire harness.

• Connect the pocket tester to the ignition

coil, as shown.

Positive tester probe --> brown/red
Negative tester probe -->

orange

Negative tester probe --> spark plug lead

Positive tester probe --> brown/red

Primary coil resistance

2.1 ~ 2.6

at 20°C (68°F)

Secondary coil resistance

8.64 ~ 12.96k

at 20°C (68°F)

• Measure the secondary coil resistance.

• Measure the crankshaft position sensor

resistance.

• Check the main switch for continuity.

Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES”.

• Is the ignition ok?
