VALVES AND VALVE SPRINGS

3. Install:

• valve spring seat

• vale stem seal

• valve

• outer valve spring

• inner valve spring

• valve spring retainer

Install the valve spring with the larger pitch

facing up.

NOTE:

Smaller pitch

4. Install:

• valve cotters

Install the valve cotters by pressing the valve
spring with the valve spring compressor

and

the compressor attachment

NOTE:

Valve spring compressor

5. To secure the valve cotters onto the valve stem,

lightly tap the valve tip with a plastic hammer.

Hitting the valve tip with excessive force could
damage the valve.

INSTALLING THE VALVES

The following procedure applies to all of the valves
and related components.
1. Deburr:

• valve stem end (with an oil stone)

2. Lubricate:

• valve stem

• valve stem seal

(with the recommended lubricant)
