4. Check the piston ring side clearance. Re-

place the piston and the piston rings as a
set if the measurement is out of specifica-
tion.

• Install the piston rings in accordance with the

specification, and measure the piston ring
side clearance with the thickness gauge.

• Piston ring peripheral face shall be flush with

piston external surface when measuring the
piston ring side clearance.

5. Measure the piston ring end gaps. Replace

the piston ring if the measurement is out of
specification.

Push-in the piston ring with the piston crown
to the specified measuring position

in the

cylinder.
Make sure that the cylinder sleeve bore diam-
eter falls within the specified limit.

6. Measure the piston pin boss inside diam-

eter. Replace the piston if the measure-
ment is out of specification.

7. Measure the piston pin outside diameter.

Replace the piston pin if the measurement
is out of specification.
