Cause Remedy
Electrode:
– Junction contaminated – Clean the junction
– Membrane contaminated – Clean the membrane
– Moisture in the plug – Dry plug
– Too little electrolyte – Refill the electrolyte
– Electrode obsolete – Replace the electrode
– Electrode broken – Replace the electrode
– Socket damp – Dry the socket
Calibration procedure:
– Solution temperature incorrect
(without temperature sensor)
– Set the correct temperature
– Incorrect buffer solutions – Select the suitable buffer solutions
for the calibration procedure
– Buffer solutions too old – Use only once.
Note the shelf life

pH electrode:
– Junction contaminated – Clean the junction
– Membrane contaminated – Clean the membrane
Test sample:
– pH value not stable – Measure with air excluded if
necessary
– Temperature not stable – Temper if necessary
Ele test sample:
– Conductivity too low
(e.g. in ultrapure water)
– Use suitable electrode
– Temperature too high – Use suitable electrode
– Organic liquids – Use suitable electrode
