2. Installation
It is recommended that the units be setup and tested before being mounted or installed.
Please note that as of February 2014 all of the XRN/XC units only support Internet Explorer and the CMS
software. New firmware is in in the final beta stages to support all browsers, this will be available on
website and will already be loaded to cameras purchased in April 2014.
These instructions are for guidance only detailed information is in accordance with the product.
The instructions may include some technical inaccuracies or typographical errors, these will be corrected in
future updates.

You will need the following to begin installation:
• HDMI/VGA Cable and Monitor
• USB Mouse
• ESATA or HDD for recording (Optional)
• Router/Switch/Hub for your LAN to connect all network IP equipment together.
• Windows PC/Laptop on site and connected to the same LAN (Router) as your equipment
• Cat 5 Patch cables
• Screw Drivers (Not supplied with the XRN0808E)
• Accessories box included with XRN
• SATA Hard Drive
2.1 Pre-requisites
If you purchased the XRN0808E then this unit only accepts USB and ESATA hard drives. If you choose to use
anything above 2TB, then you will have to use ESATA. If you purchased your XRN without a HDD you will
need to follow these steps.
All the units have screws holding the top lids on except the XRN0808E. Once you have removed the screws
move the unit so the front panel is facing you. Then, slide the lid away from you and lift off to remove.
When installing in the XRN1609, once the screws have been removed this lid will lift off from the sides and
away from the front panel.
The user needs to be familiar with handling hard drives or get a qualified person to install.
