Create a new selfsigned certificate

A self-signed certificate is especially useful while testing. In most cases it's also
sufficient as long as the service is not in public use. The certificate will be valid
for one year.

This certificate is not signed by the SX-GATE CA.

Create a certificate request for submission to an external CA

In order to get a certificate from a public certification authority (CA), you need to
hand in a certificate signing request (CSR). The certificate which will be returned
by the CA can be installed by selecting the option below.

This is the way to go when the reverse proxy has to forward HTTPS requests to
a publicly available web server. The internet users' browsers will then no longer
complain about a certificate issued by an unknown CA.

Import the certificate returned from external CA

Select this option to install the certificate returned in response to a certificate
request. Make sure that the certificate is in PEM format.

Import a keypair

You can import a key pair (private and public key) from a PKCS#12 file here. Use
this option e.g. to reinstall the keys from a backup.

presented to any user connecting with this service for inspection.

CN

Issue the certificate to the address which is normally used to connect with the service
from the Internet. Usually this is the Internet DNS name of SX-GATE. You can also
issue a wildcard certificate (e.g. *.example.com).
