Assigning the IP
Address
You must now assign the IP address to the XNIC.
1
Open an OS/2 command prompt window.
2
At the command prompt, enter:
[ C : \ ] a r p - s
H O S T N A M E H a r d w a r e _ a d d r e s s
where
Hardware_address
is the XNIC hardware address in
hexadecimal notation.
Do not use leading zeroes in the IP address on the
XNIC hardware address.
For example, if you have a HOSTNAME of Coletrane and a
hardware address of 00:00:c9:10:03:BD
you would enter:
[ C : \ ] a r p - s C o l e t r a n e 0 : 0 : C 9 : 1 0 : 3 : B D
3
Check to see if your IP address has been correctly entered by
typing:
[ C : \ ] a r p - a
This will display the hardware address and the IP address. For
example:
Interface Hardware address IP address
