movement of the upper branches.
- To prevent injury, do not saw a partially cut tree with a saw. Pay special attention to partially felled trees,
which may be insufficiently supported. If the tree does not fall completely, set the saw aside and pull with a
rope winch, hoist or tractor.
CUTTING FALLEN TREES (BUCKING)
- The term "BUCKING" means cutting a fallen tree to the desired log length.
- WARNING:
Do not stand on the log during sawing. Any part can roll away, and you may lose your stance
and control of the device. Never use the saw on a slope. Make sure you have a firm stance and distribute
your weight evenly on both legs. If possible, place branches, beams or wedges under the tree to support it.
Important notes
- Always saw only one log at a time.
- Be careful when sawing chipboard. Sharp wood particles may hit you.
- Saw small logs or branches on goats. When sawing logs, the log should be held by another person. Do not
secure the trunk with your feet.
- If you use the saw in places where there are trunks and roots, drag the logs to a clean place and first lift
the removed logs.
DIFFERENT BUCKING CUTS
- WARNING:
If the saw is stuck in the log, do not pull it out by force. You risk losing control of the device and
consequent injury and / or damage to the saw. Hold the saw and insert a plastic or wooden wedge into the
cut until the saw can be easily pulled out. Carefully position the saw and continue sawing. Start the saw if it
is caught in the trunk.
Cutting from above
- Place the saw on the top end of the log. When cutting for the first time, apply only slight downward pressure.
Undercutting
- Perform undercutting at the bottom of the log, holding the top of the saw down against the log. Try
undercutting - it's as easy as sawing from above. Hold the saw firmly and keep control. The saw will push
backwards (towards you).
-WARNING:
Never hold the saw upside down when undercutting. You have no control over the device in this
position. Always make the first cut on the compressed side of the log. The compressed side of the log is
where the root weight pressure is concentrated.
Bucking without support
- When the entire length of the trunk is stable and level, start sawing from above.
- Be careful not to saw the ground.
Cutting the log supported at one end
- When the tree log is supported at one end, make the first cut from below (1/3 of the trunk diameter) to
prevent splitting.
- The second cut is made from above (2/3 of the diameter) in the same line as the first cut to prevent the
saw from jamming.
Cutting a
log supported at both ends
- When the tree log is supported at both ends, make the first cut from above (1/3 of the trunk diameter) to
prevent splitting.
- The second cut is made from below (2/3 of the diameter) in the same line as the first cut to prevent the
saw from jamming.
