WILO SE 06-2016 V5.0 DIN A4
English COMMISSIONING
• Pipework is completely sealed.
These general conditions must also be checked
after a lengthy period of standstill, and any
defects detected must be remedied!
Always keep this manual either by the aera-
tion system or in a place specially reserved for it,
where it is accessible for all operating personnel
at all times.
In order to prevent damage or serious injury when
commissioning the aeration system, the following
points must always be observed:
• Commissioning of the aeration system may only
be performed by qualified and trained personnel
in accordance with the safety instructions.
• All persons working on or with the aeration sys-
tem must have been provided with this operat-
ing and maintenance manual and have read and
understood it.
• The aeration system is suitable for use under the
specified operating conditions.
• The work area of the aeration system is not a
recreational area and is to be kept free of people!
No persons are allowed in the work area during
start-up or operation.
• During any work, a second person must be
present. If there is a risk of toxic gases forming,
sufficient aeration must be ensured.
6.1. Initial commissioning
The following points must be checked before the
initial commissioning:
• Checking the installation according to section
“Installation”.
• Basic cleaning of the operating space.
• Function test / clear water test
6.1.1.
Checking the installation according to section
“Installation”
Before the aeration system submits to a function
test, the complete installation must be checked
for correct installation (impermeability, horizon-
tal installation, securely anchored to the ground,
etc.). Defects may have to be eliminated before
function testing.
6.1.2. Basic cleaning of the operating space
Numerous contaminants may accumulate in
the operating space during installation. These
contaminants can adversely affect the air intake
or damage the aerator. Therefore, clean the entire
operating space with clear water and remove any
contaminants. Coarse contaminants and debris
are to be disposed of by hand.
The water jet should not impact directly against
the diaphragm, as this can result in damage.
6.1.3. Function test / clear water test
By conducting a function test it can be ensured
that all of the component are tight and that the
aerator fields are working properly. A function
test is performed using clear water.
Personnel must be present in the basin and drain
the aerator fields during the function test. A
visual inspection from the corners or outside the
operating space is not permitted.
1. Before water is introduced into the operating
space for the function test, air must be intro-
duced into the aeration system. This prevents
water from penetrating in the aeration system
during possible leakages.
2. Once the air supply is ensured, the operating
space is gradually flooded with clear water.
3. During the 1st step, the water level must reach
halfway to the screw ring on the disc diffuser. If
air bubbles escape, the respective position must
be removed and the fault must be remedied. The
underlying causes may be as follows:
• Mounting base is leaking
• Connecting sleeve is leaking
• Material fault
4. During the 2nd step, the water level is increased
to about 10 cm above the membrane. At this
water level, it is possible to see if all disc diffusers
work properly and problem-free. For this test, the
standard loading must be ensured. With insuf-
ficient loading, the disc diffusers do not work
properly.
If defective disc diffusers are found, they must be
replaced. Before they can be replaced, the water
must be pumped out completely, so that no water
may penetrate the pipework.
If several disc diffusers within a line only work
intermittently, water may have penetrated. Open
the drainage pipe to release the penetrated water.
5. During the 3rd step, the water level must be
increased to about 10 cm above the flange con
-
nection air distributor/inlet pipe. Check the air
distributor, as well as the inlet connection for
leakage. Leaks must be remedied!
6. Finally, also check the drainage pipe. For this,
open the valve on the drainage pipe. If the aera-
tion system is water-tight, only air or an air/water
mix must escape.
7.
After finalising the test, another test must be
performed after 24 h. Only if no faults are de
-
tected during this test as well, the system may go
into operation.
After the second function test was passed suc-
cessfully as well, the operating space may be
flooded.
If commissioning is not possible, a water level
of >1 m must be ensured. This is to protect
the disc diffusers from falling objects and the
diaphragm from UV light.
An additional function test must be performed
before a later commissioning. Furthermore, the
respective maintenance measures according to
the section “Maintenance and repair” must be
considered from that point in time.
6.2. Before activation
•
Check the operating space, if it is flooded com
-
pletely.
• If the commissioning was not executed com-
pletely, an additional function test must be
performed
