Cleaning the unit:
Impurities can affect the quality of gold deposition
(e.g. by causing inclusions). For this reason you should
rinse the beaker and the silicone seal thoroughly in
distilled water after each electroforming operation.
Wipe the electroforming head from time to time with a
moist cloth (do not immerse in water!).
Wipe the unit occasionally with a damp cloth and then
wipe it dry. The unit is maintenance-free.
In the unlikely event that the unit should fail despite
the great care with which it was manufactured and
tested, any necessary repairs must only be carried out
by a service engineer authorized by WIELAND
EDELMETALLE.
Any gold electrolyte stains on the hotplate cover cannot
be removed. You can, however, exchange the cover if
required (Order No. 6805).
Cleaning the anode with electrode cleanser -J-
(Order No. 6692).
Deposits forming on the anode can be detrimental to
gold deposition. In order to prevent this, the anode
should be cleaned after about 20 processes.
First unscrew the anode from the temperature sensor.
Then insert the electrode cleanser -J- into the measu-
ring cylinder designed for use with this electrode
cleanser (Order No. 6787) and immerse the anode
for 2-3 hours at room temperature.
The electrode cleanser -J- is an iodine-based cold
cleansing fluid. It is used for cleaning the anode. Gold
deposits are released from the anode by means of a
chemical reaction.
