Programming the Scanner

The lower part of the screen displays the full set of programmable decoder
selections.  They include the same communications parameters and
symbology/code options that are listed on the Bar Code Programming
Menu.  Using this menu, the user can enable or disable certain
symbologies, add preambles and/or postambles to bar code data, specify
message length/format and control wand indicators and operating features.

4.7.2

WANDMENU – Control Options

Control options are activated by using the (

 ) and (

 ) number pad

keys to move the cursor left or right along the control line until the desired
option is highlighted.  The function of each menu control is explained
below:

LOAD_Settings

This control allows the user to load a previously SAVED configuration
onto the screen.  When the LOAD Setting mode is highlighted and the
ENTER key is first depressed, the user will be prompted for a file name
(FILENAME =).  To continue, the user should enter the file name or
depress the ENTER key.  LOADing the file named “DEFAULT” causes
default settings to be loaded.  Attempting to LOAD a non–existent file will
result in an error message.

SAVE_Settings

This mode allows the user to save (store) a certain decoder configuration.
When this control option is highlighted and the ENTER key is depressed

the user will be prompted to enter a file name (FILENAME =) into which
the configuration (those values displayed on the screen) will be saved.

READ_from_Wand

This mode allows the user to determine the existing Wand configuration.
When this control option is highlighted and the ENTER key is depressed
the value(s) of  decoding parameters presently programmed in the Wand
will be displayed in the appropriate menu location.  You will be prompted
to identify the serial port (COM1 or COM2) the 6180 is attached to.
